Signal jamming is based on the concept of generating a signal of the same frequency (also called noise) to overpower and destruct the user signal, which a mobile service provider allocates to end-users. The manufacturing of a signal jammer device requires the use of discrete components such as capacitors, resistors, inductors, and transistors. The components generate the desired frequency (noise) and then amplify the frequency generated within the range of 800 MHZ to 1.4 GHZ. This allows a signal jammer to match the frequency used by mobile phones, which is being transmitted by the radio base station.
The military and defense application segment accounted for the major shares and dominated the signal disruptor market. These jammer systems are a part of the electronic warfare (EW) systems such as the Miniature Air Launched Decoy-Jammer (MALD-J) and the large missile defense systems like the medium extended air defense system (MEADS). Initiatives from the Russian government towards upgrading its helicopter fleet and the contract awarded to Lockheed Martin by the US government for the development and testing of long-range discrimination radar, will play significant roles in fueling market growth in this segment.
